In the Dominican Republic we source from a well known and established organic banana company called SAVID Dominicana, which grows on and sources from plantations in the Northern part of the island. We supply from the Dominican Republic to guarantee a consistent supply to the European and US East Coast market to complement the production from Honduras and Colombia, and especially when the South American production countries of Peru and Ecuador have lower production due to the winter season. SAVID Dominicana has been developing job opportunities for locals and Haitian migrants in the north of the island. SAVID has had a tremendous positive economic and social effect for its workers and their families. Some of their farms and associated farms are also Fairtrade certified. Savid and Dole have been perfect partners for a long time.
